Our Identity and History
In January 1981, Elvo Tempia chose to honor the wish of his son Edo, who lost his life to melanoma at the age of 35. To keep his memory alive, he founded the Edo Tempia Solidarity Fund for the Fight Against Cancer: a volunteer association that has always been independent, autonomous, apolitical, and non-denominational.
In 2005, the commitment grew stronger with the creation of the Edo and Elvo Tempia Foundation for the Fight Against Cancer. Working side by side with the Solidarity Fund, the Foundation develops programs dedicated to research, prevention, and treatment of cancer, carrying forward the mission and values that have guided Edo and Elvo Tempia from the very beginning.
Mission
Our mission is to improve the quality of care and quality of life for cancer patients and their families through projects and programs focused on prevention, screening, assistance, care, and research.
We work in collaboration with local Health Authorities, Universities, Research Centers, and the Oncology Network of Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta, with the goal of supporting and enhancing the oncology programs of the Piedmont Region.
Since 2007, we have been active members of the Uicc in Geneva (Union for International Cancer Control).
We adhere to the principles of the Ethical Charter and have been recognized by the Italian Institute of Donation for ethics and transparency in non-profit organizations.
